Why Padang
What Makes the Difference Between Learning and Being Sold To
The advantages of coming to Padang are quiet ones — no pressure, no hidden agenda, no rush. But they are real, and they show up most clearly in how participants feel at the end of a programme.
Back to HomeThe Core Advantages
Six things that distinguish a Padang programme from most other financial education available in Singapore.
No Product Agenda
Padang is not affiliated with any bank, insurer or fund management company. No commissions are earned on any recommendation because no recommendations are made. The programme fee is all you pay.
Singapore-Specific Depth
The programmes cover the CPF framework, SRS, MediShield Life and HDB considerations as they apply in Singapore today — not as general principles imported from another context.
Small Groups, No Rush
Sessions are capped at twelve participants. Every question is taken seriously and answered fully. If a point needs more time, more time is given. No one is asked to move on before they are ready.
Written Materials You Keep
Every programme includes a printed booklet written in plain language. The booklet covers what was discussed in the sessions and can be consulted at home, shared with a spouse, or returned to years later.
Educators with Real Experience
The people who lead our programmes spent years working in the Singapore financial industry before moving into education. They know what the material means in practice, not only in theory.
Discreet Handling of Your Information
What you share in a session stays in the room. In the Private Review, the household summary document produced belongs entirely to you. Padang holds no financial records on any participant.
Each Benefit, Explained
Professional Expertise — from Practice, Not Only from Study
The lead educator at Padang spent nearly two decades in Singapore's financial services industry before founding the organisation. The content of our programmes reflects that background: not a textbook summary of retirement planning, but an understanding of how the rules actually work, where the common misunderstandings lie, and what the decisions feel like when you are sitting across the table from them.
- Over a decade of programme delivery and refinement
- Content reviewed against current CPF, SRS and MediShield Life rules annually
- Practical focus on decisions households actually face
A Clear Process for Each Programme
Each programme follows a structure that has been refined over many sessions. The introductory discussions begin where participants are and build incrementally. The longer course follows a sequence from the CPF Retirement Sum framework through to the question of writing things down for the family. The Private Review follows a five-session arc from information gathering through to a completed household document. Nothing is ad hoc.
- Structured session plans with clear learning objectives
- Printed materials align with session content
- Feedback from previous cohorts shapes each revision
Service That Treats You as a Thinking Adult
We respond to every enquiry within two working days. We take the time to understand which programme suits each person before they enrol. During a programme, questions are taken fully and follow-up questions after a session can be directed to our content specialist. We do not use the contact information of participants for any purpose other than the programme itself.
- Two working day response to all enquiries
- Pre-enrolment conversations available by phone or in person
- Follow-up questions welcomed after each session
Clear, All-Inclusive Fees
Each programme has a single fee that covers all sessions, all printed materials, and refreshments where provided. There are no additional charges and no renewal fees. The Verandah Discussions are SGD 290 for three evenings. The Retirement Planning Course is SGD 450 for eight weeks. The Private Review is SGD 770 for five private sessions and a household summary document.
- No hidden charges or materials fees
- Full fee stated at point of enquiry
- Payment due only on confirmed enrolment
What Participants Come Away With
The clearest outcome from our programmes, as participants describe it, is a reduction in anxiety about financial matters — not because the picture has changed, but because they understand it more clearly. They know what their CPF Retirement Account will look like at fifty-five. They have thought through what CPF LIFE means for their household income from sixty-five. They have a written document they can refer to and share with family. The understanding is the result.
- Clearer picture of CPF position and choices
- Better-informed conversations with advisors or family members
- Written reference material to consult at any time

What Only Padang Offers
The Household Summary Document
In the Private Retirement Review, the final session produces a written household summary — a clear document setting out the household's financial structure, the choices that have been made or remain open, and the key contact points and reference numbers that family members may need. This is not a financial plan; it is a reference document that belongs to the household and stays with the household.
The Verandah Setting
Our rooms overlook a quiet garden near the Botanic Gardens. Evening sessions include light refreshments. The physical setting is deliberately unhurried — not a conference centre, not a hotel ballroom. The intention is that the environment itself should encourage calm, careful thinking rather than rapid-fire presentation.
Programmes That Work Together
The three programmes are designed so that a participant can begin with the Verandah Discussions, proceed to the full Retirement Planning Course when ready, and later — as retirement approaches — undertake the Private Review. Each is complete in itself, but together they form a continuous thread through the decade or so that precedes retirement.
No Upselling, No Follow-Up Calls
When a programme ends, the relationship ends at whatever point the participant wishes. We do not send marketing communications without consent, we do not pass contact details to financial institutions, and we do not call participants to offer further services. The next contact is always initiated by the participant.
